LEADERSHIP
RCHK Rock Climbing Club Coordinator
RCRC is the CAS initiative which I have taken over from a former RCHK student. It is gives opportunities for students from year 7-9 to experience rock climbing, which is a relatively rare sport in Hong Kong. As the co-leader of this project, I am responsible for coming up with lesson plans for each session, recording progress of students, conducting each sessions as the instructor as well as communication with students and our CAS project supervisor. During this project, I learnt the importance of thorough communication, as there are many aspects such as the booking of venue, equipment as well as the communication of safety rules and instructions to participants which requires clear and quality communication, as rock climbing is a highly dangerous sport which could result in severe injuries if the climbers did not comply to our instructions. Furthermore, I also demonstrated characteristics of a good leader through my abilities in organization, as I was able to maintain consistent planning and communication throughout the ongoing sessions since last December. This has been a frustrating experience for me, as it was difficult to gather a large group of students who are willing and have the courage to try out this sport. Through this issue, I acknowledged that our CAS project lacks in promotion, which can be further improved in order to motivate more students to participate. Although it had not been an easy task, I received much pleasure in sharing my passion for Rock Climbing with others within the RCHK community.

Year 12 Focus Group
This is my first year joining the year group focus groups, and it has given me an opportunity to better understand the structure and leadership system in our school. My role in the focus group is to contribute ideas to issues brought up by the student council, as well as critically analyze the feasibility and shortcomings of proposed ideas. Being in the focus group has also taught me the importance of a sense of responsibility. As a senior member in the scholarship program, it is my responsibility to give back to the school community. Through the focus group, I am able to better understand the needs of other students within our years, in turn assisting the student council members and other administrative figures in taking action to make a difference for other students.

Black Kites Athletic Council Coordinator of Events
The Black Kites Athletic Council is a new student initiative which works with the PE department to discuss aspects related to the sporting system of our school. My role within is the coordinator of events, who is in charge of organizing all events that have been discussed and approved by the athletic council. Although we have not yet begun to coordinate specific events as the council was only established before the Chinese new year holidays, I have actively participated in discussions and suggestions with other fellow members of the council and the PE department, for new initiatives for events and resolving existing issues related to the RCHK athletic system. Currently, we have initiated an activity, where the entire MYP will participate in various sporting activities organized by the council on a particular day during the last week of school, as well as working to provide better information for the student body by creating a weekly bulletin of all the sporting events and achievements that has taken place throughout the week. Through this leadership opportunity, I have been given a chance to voice my ideas as a student whom is active in the school's sporting system. It has also allowed me to better understand the demands and responsibility that required in order to coordinate large scale events.

Bali Youth Night Coordinator
During our year 12 CAS trip to Bali, I have been assigned to coordinate a "Youth Night", which is an event which the Bali CAS team holds for children from the Side by Side farm and village. As the coordinator of this year's event, I was in charge of the selection of activities, preparation of resources and allocation of roles to other members of the team. During this activity, I have demonstrated skills of critical analysis and evaluation for the selection of activities considering the practical restrictions of the venue and resources, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills with other members of the team. Through the experience of the village children's lifestyle, I was able to better empathize for those who are less fortunate than us, fueling me to further engage in contributing to issue of global importance.
