Goal
The learner profile attribute I selected as my weakness is balanced. Due to the heavy workload of IB Diploma students, I believe that this is an extremely important trait to refine, as it would allow me better coordinate my academic work, CAS, as well as a healthy amount of social and leisure time. One obvious sign indicating my lack of a balanced lifestyle is the constant late nights meeting deadlines resulting in the lack of sleep.
My lack of balance also became evident to me in the process of writing a Chinese response to the question《马上就要考试了,你看到很多朋友的压⼒力很⼤大,经常吃得不好,睡得也不好。给他们写⼀个博 客,分享你面对压⼒力的经验,告诉他们减轻压⼒力的⽅方法》, which requires me to write a blog to discuss and propose solutions in response to high stress levels of students. During the evaluation and description of general characteristics identified in stress, I realized that many of the attributes I discussed may be applied to me as well, giving me an opportunity to sit down and reflect on my own weaknesses in related skills such as organization. I understand that, by working to create a balanced lifestyle, I will be able to improve both my physical and mental health state, which would be beneficial towards improving my concentration and critical thinking abilities, as well as to better control my emotions. Other aspects that I can improve the balance in my daily life is sporting activities. Throughout the year, the frequencies of my swimming, rock climbing and running sessions have decreased from three to four sessions a week, to one weekly session due to the lack of time. It became visible, that my stamina and strength have greatly decreased, resulting in a fall in levels of attentiveness which affects my ability to learn new knowledge in daily lessons. Furthermore, the lack of balance also had a slight affected my health and weight, which in turn diminishes my self-confidence towards my appearance. Considering this, it is important to achieve some sort of balance between athletic and academic activities. Other than sporting activities, balance is also a critical a attribute to possess of in order to further improve my leadership skills. Improving my balance in life will assist me in gaining more mature organization skills, allowing me to excel in other leadership and extra curricular activities. Responsibility and organization is also a characteristic which many universities and employers look for, hence increasing my ability to gain a better balance may also increase the chances of succeeding in my future career. Developing the learner profile goal of gaining a higher level of balance will improve my self management skills and help me in my daily life through increasing my organization in achieving higher efficiency. Furthermore, becoming a more well-rounded person may improve my health, resulting in higher productivity and a better use of time. In order to achieve my goal in becoming a more balanced person, I need to evenly spread out interest, and to focus on aspects which I am lacking in. Overall, I will need to spend more time on improving self management, organization , less procrastination in order to achieve balance. |
